Strongswan IKEv2 VPN License & Requirements

This VPN solution utilizes StrongSwan, an open-source software that implements the IKEv2 protocol for secure VPN connections.

License:

StrongSwan is licensed under the GNU General Public License version 2 (GPLv2). This means:

• You may freely use, modify, and distribute StrongSwan.
• Any modifications or derived works you distribute must also be licensed under GPLv2.
• Commercial use is permitted under GPLv2, provided these licensing terms are followed.

If your organization requires alternative licensing terms, a commercial license is available directly from secunet Security Networks AG.

Requirements:

• Supported Operating Systems: Linux (e.g., Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS), FreeBSD, macOS, Android
• Network Configuration: Open UDP ports 500 and 4500 for IKEv2 communication
• Authentication Methods: Supports Pre-Shared Keys (PSK), X.509 certificates, and Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) methods
• Software Dependencies: strongswan, strongswan-pki, libcharon-extra-plugins, libcharon-extauth-plugins, libstrongswan-extra-plugins
• Kernel and Firewall: IP forwarding must be enabled, and firewall rules should permit IPsec VPN traffic

Users must ensure compliance with StrongSwan's GPLv2 license terms when integrating or distributing this VPN solution.
